Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health. It is naturally produced in the skin upon exposure to sunlight, and can also be obtained from certain foods and supplements.

Vitamin D promotes the synthesis of proteins that rely on vitamin K for their activation. Indeed, vitamin K serves as a crucial coenzyme, facilitating the carboxylation process, particularly in the case of Gla proteins. This transformation involves converting glutamic acid (Glu) within specific proteins into γ-carboxyglutamic acid (Gla). Carboxylation stands as an indispensable step for the majority of these proteins to function effectively. These carboxylated vitamin K-dependent Gla proteins share a common feature of binding calcium. Thus, the collaboration between vitamin K and vitamin D helps a precise allocation of calcium to targeted sites within the body.
Vitamin K1 is predominantly absorbed by the liver and is instrumental for clotting factors. In contrast, vitamin K2 serves a broader role, extending beyond the liver to activate various vitamin K-dependent proteins such as osteocalcin and MGP. Vitamin K2, also known as ‘menaquinone,’ exists in multiple forms, with MK-4, MK-7, MK-8, and MK-9 being among the most recognized. Current scientific understanding suggests that menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is the most efficacious form of vitamin K2. MK-7 demonstrates exceptional absorption and possesses a prolonged half-life, allowing it to remain coenzymatically active within the body for an extended duration. This is the reason why, our formula contains K2 of MK-7 while we did not included other vitamin K forms such as K1.
Conventional Vitamin D3 is obtained from animal-origins (sheep wool). Lichen D3 used in our product is extracted from plant, yet chemically-identical. Our K2 is also 100% natural, extracted from natto.
