Piperine is extracted from black pepper (Piper nigrum) and it is best known as a spice in human diets.

As a food supplement, it is best known for it’s potential to increasing the bioavailability of other food supplements when taken at the same time.

The mechanism responsible for increasing bioavailability of various plant extracts is believed to be related to the inhibition of glucurono-conjugation. Du to this, as an example, it reduces the breakdown of Curcumin by the liver so that there is more time for Curcumin to be absorbed by the body. This in turn can lead to an increase of Curcumin absorption to 2000% within half an hour to an hour from its ingestion (1).

Suggested use
