Olive leaf (Olea europaea) was first used medicinally in the Ancient Egypt. In the Bible, the olive plant is often mentioned in reference to its medicinal use. Latter, pulverized leaves were used in drinks to support in case of various health challenges.

According to the scientific literature, Olive leaves are rich in polyphenolic compounds that have been found to have a large amount of important functions. The main component of Olive leaves associated to such properties is called Oleuropein, that gives olive leafs (and oils) a bitter taste.

In line with both its traditional use and scientific research, Olive Leaf Extract it is believed to help in the various areas of health, such as helping regulate blood pressure (EFSA ID 2656)*.

While the academic and clinical findings related to Oleuropein potential are numerous (more than 1500 published studies listed on PubMed) and many are often outstanding, supporting its traditional use, inline with the European regulation, these findings cannot be addressed here.

Small amounts of Oleuropein are provided by moderate amounts of olive oil, that can be easily consumed in the context of a balanced diet. Standardization of food supplements, on the other hand, offer a way to ingest oleuropein in a controllable and constant manner daily.
