N-acetyl-cysteine ​​(NAC) is a specific form of the sulfur-containing semi-essential amino acid L-cysteine. The advantage of N-acetyl cysteine ​​over cysteine ​​is that NAC has a better water solubility profile and it is therefore more easily absorbed in our body. It is also less susceptible to oxidation compared to cysteine. N-acetyl cysteine ​​supports the natural production of glutathione in our body.*

Glutathione is found in all body cells. This endogenous substance contributes to the cell’s defense mechanism against oxidative stress such as that induced by air pollution or natural aging process of cells.
