Fisetin is a plant extract, and an important phytoflavonoid frequently present in vegetables (onions and cucumbers), fruits (mangoes, apples, strawberries, kiwis and grapes), wine, and nuts. Fisetin concentrations in these fruits and vegetables are varied leading to an average daily intake estimate of 0.4 mg. The highest concentration of Fisetin was found in strawberries (160 ug/g).

Fisetin has garnered scientific attention due to its properties and potential applications. Research has explored its role in various biological processes, including its possible benefits in aging, and potential interactions with cellular pathways relevant for numerous health challenges. While research continues to advance understanding of fisetin, it remains a compound of interest in the fields of nutrition and natural health.

While the academic and clinical findings related to its potential are numerous (more than 1300 published studies listed on PubMed) and many are often outstanding, supporting its potential, inline with the European regulation, these findings cannot be addressed here.

Wile its potential to contribute to a healthy aging is fantastic, Fisetin is very hydrophobic in nature, resulting in limited water solubility, and thus a very limited bio-availability.

Why Pro-Liposomal?

Fisetin is a lipophilic natural compound with limited water solubility. To address its formulation characteristics, we have incorporated fisetin into our Pro-Liposomal technology platform.

Phospholipid-based formulations are widely investigated as delivery systems for natural compounds and other lipophilic substances. Phospholipids are amphiphilic molecules, meaning that they contain both water-attracting and fat-attracting regions. Under suitable conditions, phospholipids can organize into bilayer structures known as liposomes – microscopic, vesicle-like structures surrounded by a phospholipid membrane.

The phospholipid bilayer of a liposome has structural similarities to biological cell membranes. This characteristic has made phospholipid-based systems an important area of research in food, pharmaceutical and nutritional formulation science.

Pro-Liposomal technology in a convenient dry capsule: Many liposomal supplements are supplied as liquid formulations. While liquids can be suitable for liposomal delivery systems, they may be less convenient to transport and dose and may have a distinctive taste. Our Pro-Liposomal approach is provided as a dry powder in a capsule, combining phospholipid-based formulation technology with the convenience of a conventional capsule:
