Magnesium is one of the most important mineral in the human body and brain. Due to this reason, it contributes to essentially most of the normal functions of the human body. It is now accepted that some of its benefits are related to the following aspects:
Contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system
Contributes to normal muscle function
Helps build protein in the body
Contributes to brain functions involved in learning ability
Supports the maintenance of strong bones
Fortunately, magnesium is common in foods and we can assimilate that in a normal and balanced diet. However, because of its essential role we may want to maximize the possibility we indeed assimilate the required daily value, which is estimated to be in the range of 350 mg elemental Magnesium (1).
In order to do that, an obvious option is to use Magnesium containing food supplements. However, there are various forms of Magnesium foods supplements on the market such as in the form of sulphates, lactate, hydroxide, oxide, chloride, gluconate.
The challenge for most of us is to select the most suitable form of Magnesium supplement.
We, at MCS Formulas, selected to offer to our customers what we believe is one of the best forms of Magnesium, as Magnesium Gluconate. According to the scientific literature, Magnesium Gluconate is recommended for magnesium supplementation as it is believed to be better absorbed and causes less diarrhea (2,3).
Furthermore, we selected Magnesium Gluconate also because of recent literature indicating that Gluconate has impact on cellular absorption of Citrate (4).
Due to the above reasons, we think Magnesium Gluconate is the best form of Magnesium.
