Astragalus membranaceus (also called Milkvetch and Huang Qi) is one of the most popular herbal medicines worldwide, traditionally used as a tonic to fight weakness and infection and to address many other health conditions. Its main components are Astragalus polysaccharide, flavonoids compounds, saponins compounds and alkaloids. Of these, Astragalus polysaccharide is the most important natural component in Astragalus membranaceus, connected with many of its important properties (2). In line with its traditional use, Astragalus is believed to deliver some of the following:
